Ora Orthotics was founded by
Jessica Dunn in May 2021.
Jessica graduated from La Trobe University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Health Sciences with Masters in Clinical Orthotics and Prosthetics. She then proceeded to get her first job as a graduate orthotist across the ditch in Auckland, New Zealand for The Orthotic Centre.
Working for The Orthotic Centre gave Jessica a taste for all that is orthotics, assessing a variety of clients and pathologies. After four years, Jessica moved to Canada for two where she worked for Ossur Canada Limited, specialising in high end knee bracing.
After Canada, Jessica returned to New Zealand and The Orthotic Centre. This time she was based out of Orthotic Active, a sister clinic of The Orthotic Centre. The clinic specialised in ACC and private clients. After 18 months of Orthotic Active, Jessica decided she was ready for her next challenge and pursued opening up her own clinic, a dream of hers since the beginning.
Friends of Jessica’s were studying Te Reo at the time of the clinic’s inception, which was how the name Ora was born. Ora means to be alive, well, safe, cured, recovered, healthy, fit, healed. It encompasses all that the clinic values. It is Jessica’s hope that every client who walks out of Ora has an experience defined by the meaning of Ora.
Frances Timmons joined Ora in December 2022
Frances graduated from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Prosthetics and Orthotics. She then moved to Dublin, Ireland for her first job as a graduate orthotist working for Ottobock Ireland at Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital. Frances spent over 5 years at Ottobock working with both adults and paediatrics, providing a service in clinics across the country mainly dealing with neuromuscular, musculoskeletal and scoliosis clients.
In 2019 she moved to New Zealand after enjoying a holiday here the year before. She worked for The Orthotic Centre mainly based at Orthotic Active for 3 ½ years where she met Jessica. She then had a short stint of 18 months working for Peke Waihanga Orthotic Service. During her time at Orthotic Centre and Peke Waihanga she gained experience in the busy Auckland Hospitals and outpatient clinics, seeing a variety of DHB, ACC and private clients.
In late 2022 Frances joined Jessica at Ora Orthotics and hasn’t looked back since. She is a valued member of the team of now three!
In her free time, you will most likely find Frances keeping fit and active. She is an avid crossfitter and enjoys competing in local and national competitions when she can.
Emma O’Neill joined Ora in April 2026
Emma is another graduate from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow with a Bachelor of Science in Prosthetics and Orthotics. She began her Orthotics career in Glasgow within the NHS, specialising in Neurology and Diabetic MDT clinics.
She moved to NZ in 2017 furthering her Orthotics venture and journeying into managing private/ACC clinics for Orthotic Active. She treated a wide variety of patients, mainly specialising in custom made orthoses. Here Emma got to work closely with both Jessica & Frances, cementing their relationship as friends as well as colleagues.
In 2020 she began a career with AT Therapy/Whiteley Allcare as a Product Specialist and over the next 6 years continued education in the Allied Health space and generally managed their medical distribution channel.
Emma is excited to get back into more hands-on clinical care with Ora Orthotics! Jessica and Frances are thrilled to have the team of three reunited again!
