ACC Clients

Ora Orthotics has an established contract with ACC. All ACC clients with an orthotic referral for a lower limb orthosis are welcomed to book an appointment. All ACC clients must have:

  1. A valid ACC claim number and

  2. A referral from a specialist, GP, physiotherapist, podiatrist, occupational therapist or other valid referrer.

ACC client consultations are fully funded, there is no fee. Your orthosis may be supplied on the day or funding from ACC may have to be sourced first. This will be dependent on your prescription.

Orthotic Prescriptions

Ora Orthotics specialises in lower limb orthoses, both custom made and prefabricated. However, if you have a referral for an orthosis which is not for the lower limb, feel free to please call and we can discuss your options.

The clinic stocks basic prefabricated orthoses such as post-op shoes, insoles, ankle braces and knee braces which can be fitted on the day of your appointment.

If the clinic is out of stock of any prefabricated orthosis, this will need to be sized and ordered in for you. This can take 1-2 weeks. In most cases you will therefore require a fitting appointment once restocked.

Custom orthoses will need to be either scanned or plaster casted for. As these orthoses are being manufactured from scratch and are often made overseas, they can take anywhere from 2-6 weeks before they’re ready for fitting. A fitting appointment will always be required.

Private Clients

All private clients requiring lower limb orthoses are welcomed to book an assessment at Ora Orthotics. Appointments are typically 40 minutes and will incur a fee of $80. Longer or shorter appointments may be charged more or less. This will be decided by the attending clinician. Private clients will be liable for the cost of their product. This cost will be outlined before a client proceeds with any orthotic treatment.

Private clients do not need a referral to attend the clinic. However, some kind of medical documentation detailing a diagnosis is always appreciated and can be beneficial to ensuring the appropriate orthotic prescription.
